Tuesday Tunes {Duke Dumont}

I heard this song, ‘I Got U’ about a month ago and couldn’t download it. iTunes kept telling me it was an ALBUM ONLY song and I kept screaming ‘That’s horse shit! Gimme the song’.

I even considered downloading the song illegally. Oh yeah, I can be naughty sometimes. I’ve totally forged signatures before.

The song God’s must have heard my screams because the song just got released.

Another Canberra creation! Check out the lads from Peking Duk and their latest single ‘High‘ featuring Nicole Millar.

Peking Duk do a bit of the festival circuit and also loads of Aussie nightclub guest DJing appearances. The song ‘High’ is high energy with a twist of house.

Tuesday Tunes {SAFIA}

Geez, I’m really sharing a lot of chilled indie at the moment, aren’t I? Let me add one more to the mix and I promise to share something upbeat next week!

The lads from SAFIA hale from the nation’s capital, Canberra. A three-piece electro-indie band that’s been playing music together since primary school. {Nawww ….. how cute}.

The band recently supported Disclosure, Rudimental and RUFUS on an Australian tour, so they are already hitting the big time without even releasing an album yet!

Tuesday Tunes {Kite String Tangle}

I love Tuesdays! It means I can share new music with you. My heart beats a little bit faster whenever I find a new song or a new band to add to my ever growing music list.

As much as I’d like to claim this new find, I can’t. It belongs to my husband. Hubby introduced me to The Kite String Tangle when we were on holidays the other week and it was love at first listen.

So, who are The Kite String Tangle? Correction. Who is behind The Kite String Tangle? Just one Aussie guy named Danny Harley. He’s a producer with a passion for electronic music. His music is a blend of dreamy & ethereal pop and his single ‘Given The Chance’ is one of my fav’s. Take a listen!

Tuesday Tunes {chill-out songs}

Any day can be transformed with music. Music can excite, soothe, calm or get the PARTY started. For me, I need to match the music with my mood so I have tonnes of playlists on my iPhone. I am constantly listening to music – walking to work, in the office, when I’m cooking, out exercising and especially when I’m cleaning! My project at the moment is overhauling my chill-out playlist. I’ve deleted some oldies and added some goodies. At the end of the day I LOVE to pour myself a glass of wine, connect my iPhone to my wireless speakers and start on dinner.
Here are some of songs featured on my playlist:
  • The Breach – Dustin Tebbutt
  • Bath is Black – Marika Hackman
  • Blood – The Middle East
  • Northern lights – LUX
  • Thinkin bout you – Frank Ocean
  • Be here now – Ray LaMontagne
  • For you – Angus & Julia Stone
  • Bravado – Lorde
  • Chained – The xx
  • Boy – Emma Louise

Tuesday tunes {Marques Toliver}

Did you know that iTunes offers a free song each day for you to  download? Me neither until last week. I was searching for a song by The XX and saw the word FREE {it’s catchy right}. So I had a listen to the song and LOVED it.

Song: ‘Control’ by Marques Toliver.

A bit of research tells me that Marques Toliver is an actor, classical violinist, magazine editor, model and singer-songwriter. Too many talents to fit into one box, right?

What’s your favourite song or band at the moment? I’m creating a playlist for when I go running so recommendations are more than welcome.
