Tuesday Tunes {Phantogram}

It’s probably the weirdest band name in history but don’t hold it against them. Phantogram seduces you on their latest release ‘Fall In Love’.

Tuesday Tunes {SAFIA}

Geez, I’m really sharing a lot of chilled indie at the moment, aren’t I? Let me add one more to the mix and I promise to share something upbeat next week!

The lads from SAFIA hale from the nation’s capital, Canberra. A three-piece electro-indie band that’s been playing music together since primary school. {Nawww ….. how cute}.

The band recently supported Disclosure, Rudimental and RUFUS on an Australian tour, so they are already hitting the big time without even releasing an album yet!

Tuesday Tunes {Triple J Hottest 100}

Triple J totally delivered the goods on Sunday with another Hottest 100 countdown.

I can’t exactly say it’s a surprise, but nevertheless Vance Joy has lived up to everyone’s expectations and scored #1 on the 2013 Triple J Hottest 100. The uber hit Rip Tide has scored perfect points so of course Aussie’s voted correctly and picked it for #1.

Vance JoyThe rest of the contenders were pretty impressive too.

Happy Hottest 100 Day

The snags are ready. The Aussie flag is up. The cricket bat is ready. The BBQ is clean. Beer and wine on ice. Lamingtons prepared. Ice blocks are frozen.

It’s time to crack a tinnie {did I just say that?} and settle in for Triple J’s Hottest 100 2013 song countdown.

…….. and my NUMBER #1 song of 2013?
Rudimental – Free

Yep. I voted for Rudimental! There is no way it’ll be number #1 but it’s MY number #1 and I love it!

Who did you vote for?  I think Lorde and Daft Punk will slug it out for the number #1 spot.

To all my Aussie readers, HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY. I hope the sun is shining wherever you are today.

PS – Anyone notice that I listed 11 songs? I seriously can’t count.

Tuesday Tunes {FKA TWIGS}

I was driving in my car the other week, listening to Triple J and the song Papi Pacify came on.

Needless to say, I loved it and thats why I’m sharing it with you today. Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. As soon as I’d parked my car, I was on iTunes downloading the song so I could hear it again.

The UK artist, FKA Twigs, {what a weird name!} is fairly new on the music scene. FKA wanted to be a dancer, but her passion for creating music won out.

The song Papi Pacify tells a story of a lover wanting clarification about the commitment and foundation of a relationship.

Tuesday Tunes {London Grammar}

Good music and road trips go together like Milli and Vanilli, right? Whether you’re driving interstate or up the coast, it’s always important to ease the travel stress with loud music, sugary snacks and the wind in your ear hair!

Hubby and I played a lot of new music on our road trip to the Hunter Valley last weekend. London Grammar is my Hubby’s new fav band. {Secretly I think he has a crush on the lead singer, Hannah Reid’s, velvet voice}.

London Grammar

I don’t know too much about the indie band, but I do know they hail from London and only had big success earlier this year with their single ‘Hey Now‘.

But the song of moment, getting lots of Triple J radio airplay is ‘Wasting My Young Years‘. Hannah wrote the song about an ex-boyfriend. Revengeful? Not in the slightest.

Tuesday tunes {Jacob Pearson}. The next Jeff Buckley?

Jacob Pearson

Artist: Jacob Pearson

Song: Honey

Album: Places We Know

If you’re into The Ruben’s, Matt Corby or The Jezabels then you may like this guy Jacob Pearson. Jacob voice reminds me so much of the legendary Jeff Buckley – it’s alluring, smooth and honest. He’s a 22 year old who lives in NSW on the central coast. The track ‘Honey’ is iTunes Single of the week so you can download it for FREE. Support homegrown talent!
